SLS Direct Admission 2027: The Complete Guide to SLAT, NRI & Management Quota

SLS Direct Admission 2027-The Complete Guide to SLAT, NRI & Management Quota

SLAT Syllabus: What to Study for Each Section

1. Logical Reasoning

Critical reasoning (strengthen/weaken, assumptions, conclusions), syllogisms, statement–conclusion, cause and effect, and analogies. Practise with short timed sets. Accuracy on these questions comes from reading the argument carefully, not from memorising.

2. Legal Reasoning

You are given a legal principle and a fact situation, and you must apply the principle exactly as stated. You don’t need prior knowledge of law, but knowing the basics of torts, contracts, criminal law and constitutional law helps you read faster. Stick strictly to the principle as given, even if it differs from real-world law.

3. Analytical Reasoning

Seating and linear arrangements, blood relations, direction sense, coding–decoding, number and letter series, and simple data interpretation. These questions reward practice more than any other section.

4. Reading Comprehension

Passages on social, legal, economic and literary themes, with questions on main idea, inference, tone and vocabulary in context. Reading one newspaper editorial every day is the single best preparation.

5. General Knowledge

Current affairs from roughly the last 12 months (national, international, legal developments, awards, sports, appointments) plus static GK. Make short monthly notes and revise them weekly.

How SLAT Merit Is Calculated (70 + 30)

Symbiosis shortlists candidates for a Personal Interaction (PI) based on their SLAT marks. The final merit list for all four law schools then uses the same formula:

ComponentWeight
SLAT score (out of 60, scaled up to 70)70 marks
Personal Interaction (PI)30 marks
Total100 marks

Worked example: this shows why the PI can change the outcome.

StudentSLAT (60)Scaled (70)PI (30)Final (100)
Student A4856.02076.0
Student B4552.52678.5

Student B scored 3 marks lower in SLAT but ranks higher overall because of a stronger PI.

1. What is the national-level entrance test required for SLS Pune Admission 2027?

Admission to SLS Pune (and all Symbiosis law campuses) requires applicants to qualify in the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT), which is a national-level entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

2. Besides the SLAT exam, what are the other crucial stages of the admission process?

The multi-stage selection process includes the SLAT exam followed by the Personal Interaction (PI) rounds. Final admission is based on the combined merit of the SLAT score and PI performance.

3. What does the PI round evaluate in a candidate?

The PI round is designed to evaluate a candidate’s communication skills, confidence, legal awareness, and analytical ability, ensuring that only the most well-rounded students are selected.

4. When are the tentative dates for SLAT 2027?

The tentative dates for the SLAT 2027 exam are December 19, 2026 (SLAT 01) and December 26, 2026 (SLAT 02). Registration is tentatively expected to close on December 4, 2026.

5. What are the specialized admission pathways available at SLS Pune?

In addition to merit seats via SLAT, applicants can explore specialized pathways such as NRI Quota and Management Quota for both the BA LLB, B.Com LLB and BBA LLB programs.
